How Toscana 2050 was born and what its objectives are
Toscana 2050 is the project through which the Region intends to identify today the guidelines on which to graft its future action.
The project was promoted by the President of the Regional Council Antonio Mazzeo at the start of his term of office.
Promoted by the President of the Regional Council Antonio Mazzeo at the start of his term of office, it was unanimously approved by the Bureau and included in the context of the reform of Regional Law 46 of 2015 which, in its new Article 8 bis, reads:
The Regional Council promotes, with the involvement of private entities, educational institutions, local authorities, regional authorities and third sector entities, the holding of study initiatives and events aimed at stimulating the broadest debate and general reflection on the configuration of the image of the Tuscany of the future in economic, social and cultural terms.
Imagining the Tuscany of 2050 therefore means acting now in order to offer future generations a region that is capable of facing the new challenges and that is rich in opportunities.
The aim of this project is to create a region that is capable of facing the new challenges and that is rich in opportunities.
A pathway that aims to promote, by involving organisations and private individuals, initiatives and events designed to stimulate the broadest possible debate on the image of the region of the future in economic, social and cultural terms.
A Scientific Committee composed of fifteen transversal professionals has been set up as the primary place for the elaboration of the project's content, whose work is flanked by:
- The study and formulation of the Starting Knowledge Framework carried out by IRPET (Istituto Regionale per la Programmazione Economica della Toscana).
- The profiling of the Strategic Framework for regional development to 2050, which is the responsibility of the Presidency of the Regional Council. The profiling of the Strategic Lines in coherence with the Strategic Framework for Regional Development.
- The public consultation of the citizens of the territory
- An ongoing project communication and information campaign

The results of this broad cycle of reflections will flow into a Strategic Planning Document that, being neither provided for by the regulations in force nor experimented elsewhere, makes the Toscana 2050 Project a pioneering experience in the national and international sphere.
